Rodel Urmatan is a distinguished sustainability leader with over 15 years of global experience in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, corporate sustainability, and program management. With a Master of Science in Community Architecture from the University of the Philippines and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Far Eastern University, Rodel brings a multidisciplinary perspective to advancing sustainability initiatives. He holds certifications in PRINCE2, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), and as a Certified Energy Manager (CEM), underscoring his technical expertise.

Currently the Director of ESG at PRA Group, Inc., Rodel has spearheaded the development and implementation of the company’s sustainability strategy, aligning with global frameworks such as SASB, TCFD, CSRD, and GRI. He established an organizational sustainability committee, guided mandatory climate disclosures, and enhanced sustainability reporting for investors and the Board of Directors.

Previously, as Senior Sustainability Advisor at NRG Energy, Rodel delivered transformative solutions to advance the company’s CSR goals. He co-led NRG’s electric vehicle (EV) strategy, innovating fleet electrification solutions and fostering cross-functional collaborations to develop sustainable products and services.

Rodel’s impactful career spans leadership roles with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and the Switch Africa Green Program. He managed sustainability reporting for over 1,000 UNOPS projects annually across 70 countries, driving carbon neutrality efforts and embedding sustainability into project lifecycles. At the United Nations Environment Program, he provided technical advisory for 34 sustainability projects across six African nations, aligning with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Earlier in his career, Rodel worked at Waste Management (WM), where he advanced corporate GHG and sustainability reporting under frameworks like GRI and CDP. He led client-facing engagements to optimize waste and materials management, leveraging life cycle assessments and strategic partnerships to enhance operational efficiency and environmental performance.

A certified practitioner in green building standards like LEED and sustainability reporting tools such as CDP and SASB, Rodel is adept at managing cross-sectoral initiatives that drive measurable environmental and social impact.
